Is it possible to make a living as a full time freelance writer

Is it possible to make a living as a full time freelance writer?
My dream has always been to write. I am currently an English major and write regularly. My husband and I decided that if I could make $30,000 or more in one year freelancing part time around my full time job, part time school and family, that I would leave my crappy job and freelance full time. Is this possible?

You should start submitting now and see how good your really are. Then you can decide if you can leave your job or not.

Depends on how good you are. At writing and finding work!! Check out freelanceworkexchange.com.

Freelancing is all based on relationships....the editors know you and hire you all the time.

I did that for awhile....made a few bucks and got in my two cents. If you can get work as a full time writer that's a real blessing, but somewhere in the mix there has to be a contract. On the other hand, if a putz like Anne Coulter can make a living writing out and out #$%^ there must be an opportunity out there. Pick a field that you know about....do the research.... and make certain you have all the footnotes. Also, put the verb close to the noun, stay clear of adverbs, no more than two commas to a sentence and no sentence should have more than fifteen words in it. That's the ticket!

It depends on your writing skills and the subject matter in which you write about. I know a lot of people who are full time freelance writers and make a decent income. I would suggest checking out freelance opportunities on the internet- www.freelance.com is a good place to start. Doing a little research you can see what subjects are most needed and also what the pay is like per article submitted
