Be able to write story or article or book that people find interesting and sell them to publisher. there is a book on what different type of story, publisher like to buy.You could write thing and then be you own publisher and try selling you story on line.. Children's books are big. Just keep writing and writing, one of your story may be a hit. But first you must be able to write. I all ways like the P.I. paper backs growing up.

Writing is only part of a freelance writer's career. You must also spend a lot of time marketing yourself and your work, paying careful attention to business details such as quarterly taxes, and staying ahead of ever-changing trends in all areas of publishing. There is also the matter of intense competition from many thousands of other writers, but don't let that stop you. Contact your local newspaper or magazine and ask if you may submit a completed article "on spec." This means the editor is under no obligation to pay you for your work, but is willing to read it. Make certain you peruse back issues of the publication first to confirm that your idea has not already been covered

It's not always obvious how to go about looking for a job, I was in a bit of a hole recently when I was job searching, until I unearthed the resource in the box below that has sensible guidance. I soon got myself going down the proper way, and in a few weeks after a few interviews I landed a really good job

What is the going rate for a freelance graphic artist

What is the going rate for a freelance graphic artist?
I am doing a freelance job for a guys starting his own business. He wants me to tell him how much it will cost him for me to do rough idea sketches to start out. then after we brainstorm with those he'll pay me for the finished product. I usually don't do this so I'm not sure what to charge him. I want to tell him what to pay me per step of the design. (note: I have to design several versions for T-shirts, bumper stickers, signs, etc.)

It is always a good idea to charge the brainstorming hours. For example, logo design is $300 (not sure the price, but check around, and depends on your degree). Client needs to pay for it first. When you come up with the design at first draft 3-5 designs (black & white), then 1/3 of it is NOT refundable. Then you will work on the colors and final version. Nothing will be refundable if you got the colored version. Final, cut him a CD with color code in CMYK, RGB and AI, PDF. JPG with font information. Never send him any "printable" file, always email pdf or jpg. not the 300dpi.
2 :
Look around at your competitors for similar things in your area. That'll give you a base to work from

Do most employers require a degree if they are looking for freelance work

Do most employers require a degree if they are looking for freelance work?
Also, what are some freelance job titles? Thanks!
Careers & Employment - 2 Answers

Depends on what you're freelancing. If it's writing, usually not. If it's programming, maybe. No job titles are needed, really just experience and perhaps a portfolio that can show the work you can do. This, of course all depends on what you are freelancing.
2 :
No. Experience has more value

How do you get a job in graphic design? (As an artworker, desktop publisher, or mac operator, not freelance

How do you get a job in graphic design? (As an artworker, desktop publisher, or mac operator, not freelance).?
Do you need a BA degree in graphic design to get a job in a company? If you don't have a BA, is it enough to get an MA in graphic design? What about other short courses in graphic design or graphic communication? Any help or advice on this subject will be appreciated as I don't want to spend unnecessary time or money on courses that won't guarantee a job. Please don't guess answers or make assumptions as I'm looking for facts from those with experience and knowledge.

Nothing can guarantee you a job. I know people with BA's that work in a nothing job.. To be able to obtain a job in any field you have to find the right employer..and you have to have the qualifications that employer is looking for. There is no rocket science about it. I will tell you the more knowledge and schooling you have the more money you will make. Alot of companies look at the education before looking at what you can do.. Good luck

can a graphic design firm actually restrict me from doing freelance jobs on my own time

can a graphic design firm actually restrict me from doing freelance jobs on my own time?
I am offered a graphic design position doing a specific type of product but they said that I wouldn't be able to do freelance jobs on my own time. If they make me sign a contract stating this, they can really do this? And if they don't make me sign a contract stating this, would I be in the clear to do what I want?

Can they do this? Yes. Is it legal? Yes. If I signed the contract, ignore it, and performed freelance jobs, what can happen? Since you intentionally broke the contract, there are several things your employer could do. At the very least, you'd get a letter placed in your employment file. You could get fired. You could get fired and sued. If you didn't sign a contract, you did freelance jobs, what could happen? Most employment is "at will", and you could get fired. The course you should take is clear. During your employment interview, you should make your intentions clear and, if they agree with you, you should ask for their agreement in writing. "...they said that I wouldn't be able to do freelance jobs on my own time." Oh, wait a minute, you already know what their perspective is and you should pay attention

Well I don't know of any jobs. but for the past 2 weeks I have been getting money from different websites that work off referrals. Basically all I had to do was fill out about 3 promotional offers and have a way to receive payment (pay pal or check) So far I have made $400. This isn't gonna work if you are trying to get rich quick. Just set up an account here http://Giftcards.ZeroPricetags.com/?REF=80504 and then choose the way you want your referrals to work. I asked family members for the first few. Its not for everyone but it is certainly paying a few extra expenses I had to pay for!

Well there's nothing wrong with it besides your working at you own home, try to look in some freelance forums well most of the time employers are posting jobs to freelance forums you might find a client out there
3 :
Make a free blog at blogger about something you are good at or truly interested in, and than put adsense on it, bring people to your blog, each time your ads get clicked you'll earn money. I can assure that you will love working on it. If you want more info let me know.

Despite your medical condition, there are numerous ways that you can make money online. Since it seems as if you have some really good virtual assistant skills, I would strongly consider that you apply for positions as a virtual assistant. The good thing about being a virtual assistant is that you could use your web browsing, wordprocessing and research skills to make money. Plus, if you get with the right company or client, you could set your own hours, rates and work when you are able. There are numerous people, all around the world, that are living productive lives with conditions like yours who hold similar positions. Although there are some companies that hire VAs directly, I suggest that you build your own business. My suggestion would be to check out bidding sites, like Elance, and build a strong profile, Include writing samples of emails, wordprocessing, etc. You can then apply for projects that specifically require someone with your skills and availability. When you bid, however, don't just place generic bids. Instead, be specific about what you can bring to a potential employer and only bid on projects with reputable buyers with proven track records of paying contractors. The good thing about Elance is that it you can view feedback of a buyer and figure out which buyers actually hire providers and which ones have a good or bad reputation before you bid. You can also view what other providers have said about this particular buyer and then use the information to your benefit. Remember that the more projects you bid on, the more likely you are to receive a gig. To date, I have completed over 700 projects for Elance and I am confident that you'll find some great jobs despite your medical condition. God Bless! Kristi Patrice Carter
