Depends where you want to work, and what the visa options are. But generally speaking, you could check in the following areas: -- construction -- energy (e.g. oil drilling sites, pipelines, etc) -- travel (e.g. cruise ships, airlines, international tour guides) -- journalism (if qualified) -- teaching (especially English) -- entertainment (e.g. bar-tending) Good luck

If you can put both, but if you can just get one, then put Java, JavaScript is a branch off of Java, so if the employer knows anything, then they''ll know they you also know Javascript. Love your ending!

Ads for freelance job are just fraud? Has anybody any experience in it? Guidance wanted.

Ads for freelance job are just fraud? Has anybody any experience in it? Guidance wanted.?
I've seen ads promising freelance jobs from home e.g typing, editing, proofreading, data entry, conducting survey etc on hourly, daily or project basis earning $200 and much more per day,but not the addresses of the employers.along with the type of jobs offered. For getting addresses of the prospective employers we should pay $3 per month.to the agency putting the ad. Friends, whom I spoke to,branded it as mere fraud intent only to amass millions of dollars from gullible job seekers around the world. They discourage even throwing away a paltry sum of three bucks just for fun. I'm a retired old man interested in writing jobs to remain occupied and earning some bucks at the same time. I have experience of sporadic writing work, but lacked consistency.Kept on switching from one topic to another. Interested mainly in non fiction though I've three stories with Indian bacground.Getting hooked up will keep me on the focus as well. Can anybody guide me in this regard? Reside in Delhi,India

Jobs pay you. You don't pay them. Any job that charges you a fee is a scam.
2 :
Fast bucks! they dont exists... online... dont go through ads... ppl have lost Millions on that... if you get anything @ no cost... & return is good... go for it... else dont care them... Better find a new job so that u can carry on with life or study further... Cheers! bg

Freelance job didn't work out/canceled..

Freelance job didn't work out/canceled..?
I had a big freelance job, no contract but a verbal understanding via email that I would do it. After a couple of months of working on it, they had changed their mind and asked if I could do only finish a small part of the job instead of all of it. The reason they gave is that I wasn't fast enough with it, but the deadline hadn't passed. I said no, because I was upset that they decided not to use the work that I worked on for so long. Does a company have the right to say this? It still upsets me, what should I do?

I was doing hard work of finding home based/ online jobs. Luckily I found this website: http://www.wahopportunities.net They gave me list of top companies. I clicked and find many jobs. Did one job and received my pay yesterday. Best place for home based jobs.
2 :
What type of freelance job have you done for them. Writing? Graphic designing or anything alike? It's really upsetting, but you should try to find another freelance job again. just4contractors.com is really helpful and hope that you could find it helpful too, but i guess the site is under maintenance at the moment and will be back some time next week. Or try to create a twitter account post a simple bio and seek for other freelance recruiters. Try to post your CV on LinkedIn also. Good Luck

Freelance Job. Should I go with 1099 or through their payroll

Freelance Job. Should I go with 1099 or through their payroll?

I worked full time for a company most of the year (til Oct) and then lost my job. Now I'm going to freelance for another company and am wondering what's the best way to go about collecting my pay. I do own a small business which I can can then bill them and get a 1099. The other option is to go ahead and use their payroll, etc... and avoid the 1099 all together. Last year on my taxes, I noticed that because I received 1099's I lost almost all the tax money I had coming to me from a previous full time job... so I'd like to avoid that this year. Any suggestions on what's the best way to go about this?

You have already answered your own question. If you take a 1099 then any taxes withheld during the year will go to pay the FICA and FIT as you have no withholding on a 1099.
2 :
It's not just a matter of choice - there are IRS rules on whether you are an employee (W-2) or independent contractor (1099). It depends on the conditions of your work. If you are just given a project, with broad latitude on HOW, WHERE and WHEN to do it (except for the deadline) then you are a contractor. If you must work in their office, on a schedule set by them, then you are most likely an employee. A contractor is generally paid a flat amount for a project, an employee is paid hourly or on a salary. You'll pay more tax as a contractor, since you'll pay the ss and medicare match that the employer pays for an employee.

In addition to above two answer, Please keep in mind that you always have more benefits (legal / tax benefits) as an employee as compared to outside contractors! You can get unemployment, workers comp, disability coverage, and medical /life insurance deductions by state / employer if work as an employee. You can ask me any questions at suecampbell70@yahoo.com or to get free tax help visit - http://www.taxguruhelp.com Hope that helps! S.
4 :
when you get paid via a 1099, you have an obligation to make estimated quarterly payments to the IRS. So the simplest thing is let them put you on payroll. there are some other benefits to that as well, like unemployment insurance, and having the income count toward social security benefits down the road, but that comes at some cost to you as well. Overall, it sounds like you might prefer being on the payroll, all things considered.
5 :
with a 1099 - you have to pay all your own taxes including the par of soc sec taxes that is normally paid by the employer - if they let you - go on payroll and get extra federal inc tax withheld to help pay your overall federal tax liability and anytime you get paid by a 1099, you are supposed to put a portion of that money aside and make quarterly estimated tax payments to fed and state

You should elaborate more, what you can do, what is your strong point...then it will be easy it someone is looking for it. Beside, try to find some job/freelance site other than put it on yahoo, please
2 :
Just check out freelancer, elance or odesk.
3 :
Do you mean a freelancing site without membership or sign-up fee? There are plenty of those on the Web. You must know that doing freelance work means you are self-employed and you need to make an investment on the tools of your trade ( PC, internet, etc ). Freelancing is like having your own business where you are your own boss and you will have to buy the stuff you need to get the work done since your clients won't buy those for you
