How could you sell a profitable freelance to business to another freelancer

How could you sell a profitable freelance to business to another freelancer?
I have a 12 year old freelance web programming business that generates about $40k per year in my spare time. Most importantly, I have about 35 satisfied clients, many for a very long time, that contact me to do work regularly. The business could really be built up with these clients as a starting point if someone were inclined (I have a day job). How could I price and/or sell this business as one entity?

While your client list might be worth something to a prospective buyer, you have little to offer in the way of assets. Unfortunately that translates into a low figure (a fraction of your yearly projected take, what that percentage is would be up to the person making the offer). Also since your programming experience doesn't come along for the ride both your current clients and your prospective buyer should not expect a seamless transition, which will further diminish what someone would be willing to pay. On the other hand, if your clients have little or no expectations and your prospect has great ambition, then what you had to offer wouldn't matter much anyway. Not to sound harsh, but what boils down to a speculative client list just isn't worth a great deal. In a hot market you'd be lucky to get $10K, right now you'd be lucky to get a bid in the hundreds (and you know and we know that you are not going to bring in $40k again off those clients any time soon in this economy

How can I find freelance marketing/PR work

How can I find freelance marketing/PR work?

I currently work in marketing/PR and am planning on quitting my full-time job in a few months to go back to school and earn a second bachelor's in civil engineering (and thus change careers). While I'm in school, I'll need to earn some money, and I figure a good option for me would be doing freelance marketing/PR projects - flexible hours and hopefully better pay per hour than waiting tables. For those of you that currently do freelance marketing/PR, do you have any tips for finding work? I've browsed craigslist, but that isn't always reliable (I don't want those work-for-free-but-build-your-portfolio jobs). I'm in the Chicago area if it makes a difference. Also, if I create an online portfolio of my work, does anyone know if I can I feature work I've done for my current employer (now or after I leave)? I don't want to get in any copyright trouble. I'm not sure how to approach my boss with that question just yet.

You may want to check out www.guru.com and www.elance.com to see if there are any projects out there.
2 :
well dear check this site :https://www.scriptlance.com it is a freelancing site, you can get alot of work from it :) good luck
3 :
elance.com or guru.com also, you can use google adwords or yahoo's pay-per-click tools you can advertise your business like you choose Chicago area as target zone and trigger key words like 'marketing consultant'; 'marketing services'. For the portfolio, you have to check your contract! the part where it refers to intellectual property. Usually (unless they have crappy lawyer), it is written that all Int.property created during your employment belongs to the company. You have to be a little bit smarter to represent your work as example prototypes of things that you can do rather than things that you have actually done - this is if you post it on line - you can bring portfolio in a folder for your interviews and to show your interviewer as long as you do not give it to them and you do not reveal company secrets (which is tricky but with a little bit creativity could be done) Good Luck R

How do I break into freelance journalism

How do I break into freelance journalism?
I am a writer and looking to start a freelance career. I have been published before, but I am trying to make writing a full time job. Any suggestions?

Just keep writing and submitting. Learn the art of the query letter for magazines. That will help
2 :
It really depends on WHAT you want to write, but here's one strategy that generates a lot of interest in my work. I write non-fiction, health-related material based on my background as a former wellness manager and nurse. I participate in an online professional discussion group of wellness professionals. You just never know who monitors such groups. It's not unusual for people looking for knowledge experts to be among the recipients. You won't support yourself JUST doing this, but it is one way to get noticed. I try to contribute often, but I always make a point of being very clear, informative, and interesting in my answers. I always sign my input with my name, the title "Freelance health/wellness writer and consultant," my address and phone number. Of course, the email is in the response line of the email. So my suggestion to you is to find discussion groups/forums where your topics are likely to come up and pitch in whenever there is a thread that you can expand on.
3 :
Try some of the many freelancing sites out there to find freelance writing jobs. Not only will this earn you an income but you will be gaining valuable experience with each project you complete. Try the guide at http://www.freelancebuddy.com as this provides some really useful information about marketing yourself in the freelancing world and also includes an updated link library of good freelancing sites

In market there are many websites for freelancing jobs. But as per my knowledge few websites are providing safety payment services. For Freelancing first always check about the Payment safety
2 :
Hi Peter. I get my freelance work through oDesk. Although I'm not a video editor, I know there are plenty of jobs listed for that type of work on there. The thing I like best about oDesk, as opposed to some other sites that were suggested, is that it's completely free to set up an account and apply for jobs. If I were you, I'd head over there and set up a profile and get working on your portfolio. Best of luck to you

what kind of jobs are available for a freelance artist?

what kind of jobs are available for a freelance artist?
i want to be an artist. but i suck at graphic design. i rock with portraits of people, but there isn't much in the way of jobs for that. it isn't the only art style i like, i also like other varieties. any job suggestions?

Typically, any artist must use their talent to do something they dislike to put bread on the table. For you, that would be to get a street license, and head to a touristy town. Do short, 10 min sketches of people, and charge them. Put ads everywhere with whatever you do. Apply for your speciality and have work samples ready during interviews.
2 :
I'm a freelance artist because I can't work at the moment and, you know, I love to draw. Might as well get an income off of doing what I love. Anyway, I mainly do anime/manga type stuff (not classic big-eyed, pointy-nosed however; I prefer a realistic style), but I also do portraits from photographs. I've joined several art sites including: http://www.deviantart.com http://www.sheezyart.com http://www.conceptart.org I go to their forums because they have things like "jobs-people looking to hire artists" and "jobs-people looking for work". I post up my examples in the 'job services' forum of DeviantART, and constantly check the 'job offers' forum for people who are looking for a piece of art that I can draw for them. Sometimes, people find me without me looking for them, which is awesome. The main key is to get yourself exposure, so join as many art sites as possible and upload your pictures. Make sure to comment on others' artworks because that alerts them to your existence. Good luck
