Would anyone be willing to hire a 15-year-old freelance writer

Would anyone be willing to hire a 15-year-old freelance writer?
Not for money or anything, but I would like to know if anyone out there at all would consider commissioning a freelance writer who happens to be a minor, if they are up to such a company's standards. Not for money or anything- just some credit attributed to me to enhance my portfolio early. Right now it seems like a daunting task, especially because it seems so hard to find a freelancing job at all, let alone for someone who's underage. Does anyone know anything on this subject?

Can you check with your local newspaper and see if they have an intern program?
2 :
If all you want is credit write an article and submit it to freearticles.com, submit-free-article.com, articlegeek.com, easyarticles.com, they all accept articles and give you credit. You can search the web for several others too. Also pick subjects your interested in and look for speciality teen magazines that frequently run those articles and subit them. Also if your school has a school newpaper then join the staff. Hope this helps.

How do I find higher paying jobs for freelance writing part-time

How do I find higher paying jobs for freelance writing part-time?
I've been freelance writing for about two months now. Yes I have done some research, and still there's still lots more to do. By testing the waters it seems as though the best start I know is to write for essay sites. Most of the review sites don't pay much money. I like Helium Knowledge, but it's slow. To me that site is where I can develop my skills and evaluate topics that people are interested in hearing. Currently I'm preparing writing samples and thinking about submitting my articles to article distribution sites. Are there any other steps that I could take to build up my portfolio and get paid as well? I've also heard about freelance work exchange, some people applaud the site, others say it's a waste of time. Any one else know about freelance work exchange?

Well I work at an advertising agency and we only have off-site/part time freelance copywriters. They get paid $100/hour and if we give them a website to write they can put in like hours and hours of writing. One woman we use is a mom and she writes for us but makes sure we stay mindful of her "kid" things. But shes great and always sends company emails when she is going to be out of town or a kid thing. So anyway, you should try ad agencies. If you think you can writer product brochures, web sites, print ads etc. try it out. Get paid well and make your own hours. From time to time you may have to call someone and interview them to get the info you need to write, and every once in a while you might be brought to a meeting to understand what you are going to write. But it's goood money! I live on Long Island and we pay $100 so if you did that in the city I bet you'd be paid tons more.

maybe if you went to college and tried to do something with your life you wouldn't have to work on web-sites from your comfy little chair at home, but persue in a career, not just a job. Like me. I'm an international set designer. I worked on the set for Hitch, Fun w/ Dick & Jane, The Breakup, and now I'm doing a movie starring Angelina Jolie which comes out in feb. of 2007. listen and learn.

Freelance Editors-can you supply any tips on pricing, job estimation, etc

Freelance Editors-can you supply any tips on pricing, job estimation, etc?

It depends. Hourly works well if your client has a big budget and you're going to get paid for stuff like research and non-writing time. But I tend to prefer a per-project rate so both parties know what they're getting into and there are no nasty surprises. If it's a small project, do a flat rate. You'll be annoyed if you end up charging an hour and a half for something that actually requires more than that for negotiating, billing, etc. Re: revision and expectations, again it depends on the project. But discuss this with your client ahead of time. Get on the same page

But discuss this with your client ahead of time. Get on the same page. The beauty of being (more or less) your own boss is that you get to set your price, your expectations, etc. based on your level of comfort. Just don't set your rate too low to start because people hate rate raises. You probably don't want to do this for less than $40 an hour unless it's a large project that will really beef up your resume. I know it sounds like a lot, but you don't get paid for a lot of extraneous time you will definitely spend. Finally, don't forget to set aside your tax money right away. You'll be screwed if you try to come up with it at the end of the year

Will they cut off my unemployment? Can you receive unemployment and do freelance work

Will they cut off my unemployment? Can you receive unemployment and do freelance work?
I've been on unemployment for quite a few months, so I began doing nighttime and weekend freelance work (because the job market in Alabama is GARBAGE) ...because I began freelancing I also got a business license for 1099 tax purposes. I'm not making any real money, but I reported it to the unemployment office along with answering their "do you own a business" question and now it seems I might be disqualified. Is it OK to freelance at night and still collect UI?

Should I get a full time job or continue freelancing

Should I get a full time job or continue freelancing ?
I've been doing freelance web design from home now...its been 1 year already. Recently someone recommended me a job at an advertising agency. I haven't gone for the interview yet. But I'm sure they will ask whether I'm commited etc etc.. with my freelancing and all that. It might be good to work to get more experience and all that, and also get back into the working world where I can start earning steady income and wear nice office clothes. But somehow I'm still undecided. I love freelancing. I get to meet all kinds of people and help them to do websites. And I can go on long vacations .... should I go for the interview or cancel it ? I don't want to waste the CEO's time, he seems like a nice guy though.. but I think they are looking for a web developer, not designer..

if you cannot commit to their operation and do akk they are seeking to do - then don't accept the job. However, it won't hurt to go and do the interview - you never know you may pickup a major freelance account.
2 :
I would suggest you get a full time job and change your internet business model as a freelancing doing web design. You are using internet business model whereby you are selling your service to help other to design website. The disadvantage of this model is that you will need spend time to do it and earn money. You may like to change into some other model such as selling digital products, etc and automate your processes. In this way, you could earn from your full time job and earn as a freelance. Find out more from the below link. Some of the information could be useful to you

Check with publishing companies such as McGraw Hill -- in monster.com type in freelance -- there are writing and editing jobs.
2 :
Often newspapers - daily or weekly - will use outside submissions, either as op-ed pieces or features. Some newspapers pay, some don't. I did a column for years that way...
3 :
You should check on http://www.pcworkathome.net/index.html and http://www.paylinkpal.com/ and http://www.sologig.com http://jobsearch.about.com/od/freelancejobs/Freelance_Jobs.htm has some more links to freelance websites.
