Freelance job/service bid websites

Freelance job/service bid websites?
A long time ago I found a site (very popular with thousands of users) where you, as a freelance designer, editor, photographer, or any other skill under the sun, could go an bid on local serives/jobs that were needed by someone. Anyone could post a job request, then all the people who were interested in doing that job would put their bid, like their hourly rate, then the original poster could shooe the lowest bidder. Kind of like ebay for job, but you would try to bid down instead of up to get the job you were wanting. It is NOT bid-job.com - I just ran across that site before posting here, and it is small, puny, and not the one I am thinking of. Please do not post to use eBay...I have tried that before and I have had my listings removed because it was not considered "a tangible item" - and please do not suggest giving some trinket free, trying to get around the "tangible item" rule...I am REALLY looking for this other site that focused primarily on freelance bidding.

There are so many freelancing sites that it is hard to know which one you are looking for. Try http://www.freelancebuddy as they keep a "link library" of all the best freelancing sites along with some useful tips and guides to working at home as a freelancer

Is there any Online Freelance Job Providers?

If you want to make money online and wanted to work from home, go for freelancing jobs. They are only one, that will pay you and its free to become a freelancer. The Internet has opened up many freelance opportunities, expanding markets and helping to build it into one of the largest economic segments for many economies. You dont need to pay to get the job. Development for freelancing has been especially high for software development, website design, information technology, and business documentation. Freelance practice varies greatly. Some require clients to sign written contracts<!--while others may perform work based on verbal agreements, perhaps enforceable through the very nature of the work. Some freelancers may provide written estimates of work and request deposits from clients. Get more information on the website. You can almost find any freelance job you want. http://freelancejobs.awardspace.com/ Payment for freelance work also varies greatly. Freelancers may charge by the day or hour, or on a per-project basis. Instead of a flat rate or fee, some consultants have adopted a value-based pricing method-->based on the perceived value of the results to the client. By custom, payment arrangements may be upfront, percentage upfront, or upon completion. For more complex projects, a contract may set a payment schedule based on milestones or outcomes.

In 2008 my job withholdings covered my freelance taxes. This year I know it won't. What should I do

In 2008 my job withholdings covered my freelance taxes. This year I know it won't. What should I do?
I don't want to owe Uncle Sam at the end of the year and I don't know how to calculate estimated taxes. I know I am supposed to take out 15.3% for SS and Medicare but what about income tax? Please explain in simplest terms for I have a hard time understanding tax issues.

Go to your company's payroll office and have them increase the amount they take out for withholding. To figure how much, take the amount you have to write a check for for your 2008 income tax and divide it by the number of pay periods you have in one year. That will be the amount you need to increase your withholding by. Payroll can show you how to do this.

Does it make sense to freelance write if I can't find a job

Does it make sense to freelance write if I can't find a job?
I've been looking for a few months and can't BUY a job, like a lot of other people. I have an opportunity to freelance for a little less than I usually make but I wouldn't have insurance and I do have kids (single parent). I just wonder if I should be taking away from the time I should be looking for a full-time job or invest in a new career as a freelance writer and work toward eventually being able to buy insurance. No spam please!!!

Can you write? Do you have an area of expertise which you can write about? Are your kids in school or do you have time when you can focus on your writing work without interruptions or being disturbed? It takes time to build up a writing career. Can you support yourself and your kids and invest the time and money necessary to build up a freelance business? Do you want a regular paycheck, or can you live with the ups and downs in freelance income? Do you know how much it will cost to provide your family with health insurance and other benefits you will have to provide for yourself out of your freelance income? And are you sufficiently disciplined to set aside money to pay all of your taxes before you pay rent/mortgage, groceries, etc? Only you can answer these and make a decision.

Well, if it's fast, steady, and reliable money you're after - freelancing is not your best option. But if you have time to invest in freelancing, without being too hard pressed to having a reliable income, you can market yourself and your skills via a personal website. You can contract your own jobs, without dealing with low balling bidders and middle man fees charged by freelancing sites. It won't be fast and it won't be easy - but it is doable, if you have time to dedicate to it

How hard to get a job in web and graphic design work? Should I go freelance or go work for a company

How hard to get a job in web and graphic design work? Should I go freelance or go work for a company?
I know that I have to make portfolio to show what I can do. Where do I start finding people to land a job? What program do you suggest? Should I get the entire set of cs4 and css? How does the whole web designer job work? Do I just sell the layouts to people and companies that's it or do they also keep me to update whenever they need something to type in?

Well, it is in the middle of demand right now, so little comatetion might be out there. If your were me, I'd freelance. I like the idea of do everything on your time and how you want it. Also, I would be willing to take the risk of doing it, the whole none-secure paycheck deal. Depends on if you like working on your time and effort or someone's elses. Also, I did a little research and found that the average freelance makes about $48,000 a year. Dunno about the other. If you want to freelance, think about the risks first.
2 :
I would suggest you develop a good portfolio so that you can show it to various companies. You may register on job portal and submit your CV and wait for the companies to hire you. Eventually, you will get calls from various companies. Freelancing is also a good idea as there are many people and companies online who wish to get their work done through freelance web designers and graphic designers.
3 :
Take a look at this freelance website: http://www.scriptlance.com/?ref=ilyesoft You can learn much from it about how freelancing is going. Just search for design projects and see what they want.Youwill find the answers of all your questions. registration and bidding is totally free. Pay $5 when you are accepted for a work. Good luck

Freelance job & taxes

Freelance job & taxes.?
I am considering taking a freelance job. The paychecks would come directly from the company based on hours worked for the pay period. Do I have the option of asking them to take taxes out of each check or will I be responsible for paying the taxes back at the end of the year as an independent contractor? Thanks.

You have to pay the estimated taxes to the federal and state governments quarterly.
2 :
You will be responsible for the taxes. Pay estimates quarterly and don't forget SE tax (15.3%) and income tax
