Do graphic designers who have a fulltime job have to pay a business tax if they do a few freelance projects

Do graphic designers who have a fulltime job have to pay a business tax if they do a few freelance projects?
I'm a graphic designer with a fulltime job and on occasion pick up some freelance projects. I have not done any freelance work in 2007 but did a bout 3 projects in 2006. I recently got a letter saying that I owe a business tax. Am I required to pay this eventhough I don't really have a business?

But you do have a business. It might not be full time, but since you are doing freelance jobs, that's having a business and you owe tax on the income.

You need to add a lot more detail if you want an answer that has any meaning. Who told you that you owed a business tax? The IRS, or a city entity? Many cities call the license fee and business tax, so is this what you are asking about? Also, keep in mind, that you owe not only federal, state and possibly local taxes on the money from the freelance projects, but also both the employer and employee side of SS and FICA taxes. Since you will be treated as self employed with respect to the freelance work. (Check for any special rules with regard to the SS and FICA if your total income for all sources is large enough to require special handling.

Does getting paid for freelance photography count as a job on the common application?
I have been paid a considerable amount of money to do senior portraits, family portraits etc. Can I list "freelance photographer" under the paid jobs section on the common application?

you can write for la youth but it's non profit (and if you live in the area). there are probably some others that might be around where you live. i don't think you'll really find anyplace that will pay a 14 year old. sorry. other than that you could start out by getting an internship at a magazine. but you won't start off writing for it right away. it's more complicated than that. oh, and la youth is a newspaper.

How can I land a big freelance web development job

How can I land a big freelance web development job?
I have been a freelance website developer for about 2 years now and the clients I'm getting are small time just setting up new websites only paying about £70 a piece. I have heard of people being paid upwards of £1000 for a website and examples I have seen are far inferior to my own work. How do I find these big time clients?

looking for a job is tricky, especially if it's years since you previously did it! I was jobless during the last couple of weeks, but I found the website in the box below which showed me how to earn cash from Google. Now I work when I want to!

What do you think of the new freelance job title " Cloud Worker

What do you think of the new freelance job title " Cloud Worker "?
I encountered this term as I was doing my research on the Web and I wonder if freelancers or any people working remotely will find the word 'cloud worker' as something acceptable...or not. This term rises from the idea of people working anytime, anywhere using cloud computing tools that makes him/her literally working on the clouds. Imagine someone asking you " What do you do for a living? " Then, you answer " I'm a cloud worker. " How would you feel? Proud? Embarrassed?

No, it sounds like you got your head in the clouds instead of on the assignment.

three words for you: scam, baby, scam. You should only have to pay up front for goods like uniforms or if you are selling stuff, then demo merchandise. Otherwise it's a scam

I suggest you to try project payday, simply because you don't need any money up front and you can start making money within minutes. I average around 2,500 dollars every month with it. Check it out at http://www.ecurrencyhomeprogram.com/payday.htm

You can earn extra money online by participating in GPT sites (Get Paid To). One site that I personally use and love is free to join, unlike most 'money making sites' out there. Basically what you do is fill out free surveys and offers, and they pay you to do this. They pay around $.25-5.00+ depending on whichever one you do. You can do as many as you like and there are hundreds to choose and do from. There are other ways to earn money on the site, such as referring friends, or participating in their rewards program and earning points to get prizes. I personally make around $150-200ish extra a month, that's on the low side and I don't do it everyday...there are stay at home moms though and other people with a lot of time on their hands that does make over $1000 a month. If you'd like to see proof of payment and read more about the site that I use you can visit my website.

I think GetaFreelancer is the freelance site out there, no need to pay or anything, have a look at my blog http://dataentrynet.blogspot.com I have listed the latest freelance jobs from GAF as well as other freelancing jobs
