Does anyone have a freelance writer network that they trust

Does anyone have a freelance writer network that they trust?
I would like to start writing freelance in addition to my current job. Are there any networks out there that you trust over the others to connect you with publishers? I would prefer writing for a magazine (print or online) or newspaper. fatman(the rest cut off)...okay but how do i organize my results by your trust level....what system does that work on?LOL. Hey I can't really be mad at you for answering for the points....lol.

yes google it

Try Freelancewriting.com.
3 :
Check out http://www.writersmarket.com for the latest markets. You can also look on http://www.linkedin.com; there are some writing groups on there. If you're serious, the best course is to identify a segment you feel comfortable writing for, then write something. Submit it to multiple magazines until you sell it. Repeat this process and you'll gradually build up a network and enough credibility to pre-sell stories. Good luck

It depends how much time you need to work on your day job. We use several contractors who have full-time day jobs - they just do our work in the evening.
2 :
You can do freelance work through freelance sites. It depends on the work you want to do but if you can do it remotely, especially programming which is the most desired skill, you can use freelance sites to connect to small companies that want to hire you for quick and short term jobs. There are several companies that offer this kind of freelance service but you should do some research first so you understand how the system works. I will link in the resource box to a site that offers a course in doing freelance work for programmers and others

Freelance employee not being paid for job.

Freelance employee not being paid for job.?

I work in Film in Toronto and was asked to work on a commercial as a props maker. When I was hired, I didn't know the amount of time I had to work on it, but in the end I was only given 2 days to buy my materials, make and order the items to be in the shot. The final concept meeting the company held was 2 days before the shoot day, giving no time to know anything about approved designs. Long story short, things went sour and the company feels that the work output was not up to their standards and does not want to Pay me. I am well respected and not to tute my own horn, but everyone who I work with loves my work. The main issue with this job was there was very little time given, and important information was not given at the correct time, and with those restrictions I did everything i could to get it to work out right. The question I have is when an employer in this situation refuses to pay, is there something anywhere that says that not paying is against the law or something like that? and how should I go about solving the problem? Note: There were no previous papers submitted or signed. I was never given any papers, which I now realize I should have asked for them. I was also doing this out of good faith to help out a friend... who in the end didn't provide me with enough info.

Did you sign a contract with the company? Did you offer a contract stating the work you were going to do and the cost of the work? If you did you should contact a lawyer and talk to them. If you have any sort of written documentation regarding your work you can take them to small claims court

Name some good paying writers freelance jobs or writers websites

Name some good paying writers freelance jobs or writers websites?
Need a list of writers websites to commence to earn $$?

It would help if you said what type of writing you do. Mainstream freelance writing jobs, for a newspaper, magazine or high-level website, are incredibly hard to get. These jobs are very rarely advertised at all, let alone on websites, because they go to professional people who already have contacts within the industry. Freelance writing does not pay well, except at the very highest levels (i.e. if you're a celebrity or a well-known writer/journalist). These jobs are highly competitive, and as such are very unlikely to go to anyone who writes: "Name some good paying writers freelance jobs or writers websites? Need a list of writers websites to commence to earn $$?" rather than "Please would you name some well paying writers' freelance jobs or writers' websites? I need a list of writers' websites to commence earning money." Basic grammar and punctuation are really non-negotiable requirements for this kind of work. However, if you still want to have a go, there are freelance writing jobs occasionally listed on Media Guardian jobs. Follow the link below

Silly lady. It depends on your experience. Go to mediabistro.com and check out how much people with similar experience and similar jobs make. It could seriously vary between minimum wage to $100 an hour. If you are inexperienced, expect very little. Good luck
2 :
Most freelance writing work is charged per word. The amount to charge per word depends on your experience, what you want to write, and a lot of other factors.
3 :
You should charge per word or per project. You can register at freelance websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/ , http://scriptlance.biz/ , http://eufrelance.com/ ,etc and start bidding for all writing projects posted there .
4 :
I'm a typist and I charge per wordage, but that seems to be unusual as all the typists and editors I know charge by hour

Are there any jobs that require freelance writers in Chicago

Are there any jobs that require freelance writers in Chicago?
I have been writing research papers, short pieces, and poems. For instance, I have been writing research papers, since the summer of 2004, on several biological subjects: cyanobacteria, Penicillium, and panbiogeography. I wondered is there any company that can offer a paying salary/charge for freelance writing work?

"Freelance" and "salary" or "job" are opposite ends of the employment spectrum. If you want a salary, you want a job - not freelancing (which is usually project-by-project work for different employers). I don't know many employers who will pay you to write poetry, but certainly there are companies that need research papers written as part of marketing or customer support. You experience writing on "biological" subjects is excellent. Look for jobs with medical or biotech related companies and look for job titles like "tech writer" or "technical writer." The "Skills Profiler" on America's Career InfoNet (from the U.S. Dept. of Labor) has a very good exercise for helping you identify skills and associating job titles with those skills. See it at http://www.careerinfonet.org/acinet/skills/default.aspx?nodeid=20 There are many good sites for finding jobs. Here are some general starting points: * Indeed.com - http://www.indeed.com Indeed is an "aggregator" site which collects job postings from job sites as well as employer Websites, so searching on Chicago and a job title will give you more options than most other sites. * Craigslist for Chicago - http://chicago.craigslist.org/ Craigslist is a giant online classifieds (mostly free) so you'll find many jobs posted by small companies and individuals. You'll also find some junk (scams, etc.) so be careful. But it can be very useful. Here's an article on using Craig's List to land a job - http://jobhunt.typepad.com/jobsearching/2006/07/using_craigs_li.html Craigslist also has "writing gigs" listed, so you may be able to continue your freelance income stream while you look for a salaried job. * ChicagoJobs.org - http://www.chicagojobs.org/ Local resources and advice sponsored by the Skokie Public Library. Search jobs, get connected with local job search support (for ideas, emotional support, and help with networking), and get job search advice. * Job-Hunt.org - http://www.job-hunt.org/jobs/illinois.shtml Has over a hundred employers and career resources collected specifically for Illinois, including more job search support groups to help you with your networking (like finding out who is hiring). Be sure to know what job you want and to let everyone know that you are job hunting. Over 75% of the time, people get a job because they know someone already working for that employer. It's called networking, and it's a key to success (but not a short cut the first time). Good luck

Where can I find some data entry/freelance typer/typist jobs

Where can I find some data entry/freelance typer/typist jobs?
I'm 15 and I live in Silver Spring, MD(Maryland). I can type about 90-100 words per minute, and I'm really trying to find a job that involves a lot of typing. I also am very experianced in data entry such as word, excel, and database.

Hi, There are many websites offering Data Entry Jobs but the problem is most of them are scam sites. They request you to pay for their service. The truth is you don't need to pay, because you are going to spend your time and effort to complete their job. We can't say all the Data Entry job sites scam but very few of them are doing their legitimate business. Freelancer Data Entry jobs: www.getafreelancer.com/ http://www.scriptlance.com/ Contract Data Entry jobs : www.keyforcash.com/ http://www.axiondata.com are few of them. You can find other possible ways to make money from your home (Join with Paid survey, Sell your used CDs Books Electronics items, Photograph etc) I come across a site - www.roadtoworkathome.com which showing best guide to work from home opportunities. That site describes the data entry jobs in two types, Freelancer & Contract, so i have used the same term here. If you are interested you can try it to know them all ways. Always, you do a good research with below list before start your work with a site http://www.ripoffreport.com/ www.scam.com/ Hope this helps! Best regards, Kumar
