Should you have to pay when looking for a job / freelance work

Should you have to pay when looking for a job / freelance work?
I have signed up on a website called Translatorsbase.com. They send me several job requests that fit my criteria, but if I want to take the job, it says I must purchase full membership, which is $129 a year. How do I know this is not a scam?

hell no, you don't pay to get hired.

no free trial? Any refund policy? Could be a scam.
3 :
no, does not make sense
4 :
i don't see any way to be sure it isn't a scam.

I wouldn't do it, because there's no gurantee you will get the job.Thats a money making business
6 :
upfront membership subscription of this nature is risky, why not try getting free ones?

If you signed up for it, and they found a job for you, then yeah. But it should only be a one time fee not a yearly membership. Once you have the job why would you want to pay any more? On the other hand, are the jobs real? That's what you'll have to find out. Otherwise it might be a scam.Simply read the small print.

It sure does sound like a scam (do they have testimonials from real people you can actually contact that have used their services successfully?). You should never have to pay. Instead, try your local Unemployment Office (free) online.

Check them out at the Better Business Bureau Site to find it go to Google and type them in. The problem with joining is you will never know the quantity and quality of the jobs they send you. I have always been able to find what I'm looking for at Google. On the flip side of the coin, yes it does cost to save you the time and trouble of trying to fine employment on your own. Goodluck! Val

Most job-finding services will let you know about certain jobs that are available which you may be interested in, but won't give up the contact details unless you pay a fee such as buying a membership. If this is the case here, then it's probably legitimate. You could check with the Better Business Bureau to be certain.
