I have a day job but am trying to get more into freelance writing. I've been out of the loop, any suggestions
Just looking for some Internet resources, possible gigs, etc. I'm a former journalist and currently do technical writing for a non-profit agency investigating acts of heroism. (Carnegie Hero Fund Commission).

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in. I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box. Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links. There are many businesses looking for help in writing and these websites allow you to find possible work for you: http://www.elance.com http://www.rentacoder.com/ (there are many looking for website editors and technical writers) http://www.guru.com/ http://www.writershome.com/index.html (specifically for writers) http://www.getafreelancer.com/ (copywriting and proofreading work) http://www.smarterwork.com/ The requests for bids always comes with maximum bid they want for the project, timeline of the project and the bidding close date. U can do home based job thru internet as is being done by me. It is data conversion job of converting pdf file into ms word doc. To get this job, one should be resident of India and proficient in ms word
