You may consider signing up to freelance sites such as freelancetraffic.com, which is cost effective methods of finding freelancers and projects. And it's free.

I'm a freelancer and I use oDesk. You may want to check them out. Another suggestion would be Craigslist. Good luck to you

If you want to make money online and wanted to work from home, go for freelancing jobs. They are only one, that will pay you and its free to become a freelancer. The Internet has opened up many freelance opportunities, expanding markets and helping to build it into one of the largest economic segments for many economies. You dont need to pay to get the job. Development for freelancing has been especially high for software development, website design, information technology, and business documentation. Freelance practice varies greatly. Some require clients to sign written contracts<!--while others may perform work based on verbal agreements, perhaps enforceable through the very nature of the work. Some freelancers may provide written estimates of work and request deposits from clients. Get more information on the website. You can almost find any freelance job you want. http://freelancejobs.awardspace.com/ Payment for freelance work also varies greatly. Freelancers may charge by the day or hour, or on a per-project basis. Instead of a flat rate or fee, some consultants have adopted a value-based pricing method-->based on the perceived value of the results to the client. By custom, payment arrangements may be upfront, percentage upfront, or upon completion. For more complex projects, a contract may set a payment schedule based on milestones or outcomes

I was sent a photography job for a big magazine by a freelance agent. Could it be a scam

I was sent a photography job for a big magazine by a freelance agent. Could it be a scam?
So I've had my own photography business for not even half a month and I get contacted by a freelance agent working for Men's Health UK saying how their shooting in my area in the next few weeks and need a photographer promptly. She says she found my work on mm (which I do have posted) and is willing to cover all my transport, accommodation and food expenses while there. She also says the pay will be $1,650, $600 of which will be sent as a cheque to secure my work. I am honestly confused if this is how it always happens for these kind of jobs or what? I would think that a big magazine like that has their own photographers they call on.

Hi there, i have no knowledge of this business but I can understand why you are wary. Yes i would imagine these mags have their own photographers and wouldnt have to contact freelance at the last minute. I would do a bit more research before agreeing to anything. Ask other agencies if anything similar has happened to them or people they know. Also google their name online. Find the name of their main man and phone their head office to see if its a scam or not.

Does your style of photography really match up with Men's Health? Not to be mean, but do you think you are good enough to be hired by them at this point? If you have the contact info for that freelancer, I would look them up. Call the main line and ask for the person, to see if they really work there. If it is a freelancer without a "real office" ask for some references. If you feel comfortable, ask to meet with them in person, and ask to see some of the other shoots they have organized. I don't have any real experience, but I would think that most jobs like that are found by word of mouth. That is, a photographer that they work with a lot would recommend his friend or another photog he knows is good or hot at the moment. I suppose in a pinch, they *might* just look on a search site, and go with an unknown. But I think a legitimate freelance agent, would already have list of photogs, and that they would want to meet with you in person, to see if *you* are legitimate and to see your other work. I would be wary that they are trying to do a cheque scam with you. If you go through with this, maybe open up a new account, and just deposit the cheque there and see what happens. Maybe also tell your bank that you are concerned about the cheque being valid

Can anybody tell me about freelance dental billing

Can anybody tell me about freelance dental billing?
I recently was laid off from my dental job and would like some advice about freelance dental billing? I have 15+ years experience and would rather chart my own course. What should I charge and do you think I could find enough work to make a living?

Do you need corporate experience to become a freelance web developer or can you start from scratch

Do you need corporate experience to become a freelance web developer or can you start from scratch?
I'm trying to get an A.S. degree in web programming from a community college. I'm not sure I can get a corporate job with just an A.S. degree. Can I just become a freelance web developer from scratch? How should I start out? I know about portfolios, and I know about elance.com and websites like that.

Without some kind of degree, it's going to be tough even to get someone to talk to you. As time goes on, you may want to build up a portfolio, and be able to show you designed websites for other customers. It's something like what an artist would go through to get hired for a job. Lot's of that kind of work is by contract, so you are not really an employee too. It just depends on what you are looking for

All you need to do is go to elance.com or guru.com. People are looking for graphic designers there. All you have to do is sign up and pay $20 and you can bid on a number of jobs. Payment is handled through an escrow account. This means the customer pays Elance and they hold the money for you. This way you know the money is there and you don't have to worry about being ripped off. When the job is done, Elance will wire you the money or deposit it into your PayPal account. It's very simple. As long as you have a portfolio, you should get jobs. You may have to do a few jobs for little money in the beginning to build your account rating (like Ebay), but once you get going you're good to go

What's the best way to go about starting to do freelance work on the side

What's the best way to go about starting to do freelance work on the side?
I am currently working at a small publishing company doing graphic design. I would like to make a little extra money then I am making now. Circumstances being that I live in a remote area and this place I work is really close to where I live, but it is nonprofit so I don't make as much as I could be making. The only problem is that I live about 50 miles from the biggest city which is Louisville Ky, and there aren't too many job oppritunities there for what I do. So I was thinking about freelance work on the side. How could I get started in doing that, or would it be a bad idea since I work for a publishing company already? Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi ya. Having been doing freelance work for years it's a nice sideline. Some can make a full-time income, but for starters you should check the local papers for some help needed in graphic design. You could contact them, say you aren't looking for employment, but do want to do some freelance work. Obviously you will have to have a rate you will accept, but many places love people who can pitch in when there is overflow work, illnesses, and so forth. As you get a few "jobs" done well you will get more to do. I know several people who developed that small sideline into a real business of their own. Having said this, keep your regular job for now. That keeps the income going. Then you can see how you are doing after a while on the freelance stuff. Some local businesses could probably use your services for ads, logos, and so forth
