How much do freelance PR consultants get?
I've just been laid off from my PR job but my old company wants me to continue to do some freelance work for them. I've never done freelance work/consulting stuff before. How much should I charge them by the hour? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Do you know how much your company charged clients for your services when you were employed? That would give you some idea. Depending on your level of experience, you could charge $50-$100 per hour....

K I'm not actually an expert on this or anything. But as a rule of thumb, freelancers can only be expected to actually do billable hours for about two thirds of the week, with the rest of the time spent chasing business or doing admin or whatever. So you charge more for the hours you do than you would do in employment to make up for this. Also, you're not getting benefits like dental plans and what have you, so add some more on to make up for that. Make sure you get at least double what your daily rate was when were employed by them I would say
