How much should I charge for a Freelance French Translation

How much should I charge for a Freelance French Translation?
I have studied French for almost 5 year completing my Commercial French with Alliance. I have been offered a Freelance French Translation job through a friend. The piece to be translated is a Presentation on Swimming.

Go call some french translators in your area, and ask them what their rate is. Find the range of the rates and position yourself to be competitive in pricing.

Prices vary according to difficulty and technicity. Rates range between 0,08 and 0.10 cent/word Have a look here: http://www.translatorsbase.com/statistics/rates.aspx

It's mainly depends on the text. The are for technical text for example is higher. The rate starts at $0,01/ sourceword, but that is pretty low. I think you should go for $0,03/ sourceword, as you have obviously no previous translaion experience. Visit this site for more informations about freelancing: http://www.freelancer-online.com
