Good question, there are a number of resources online to get started, graphic designer Jacob Cass of Just Creative Design has a great article outlining the many avenues you can take to getting freelance gigs while in school, it's called "How and where to get paid freelance work while you are still a design student: you should check it out. Branded Designers is a blog that gives you marketing advice on your design portfolios and styleapple.com is launching a site this month to help showcase your work giving you maximum exposure to potential clients.
