Is the job market for graphic design down

Is the job market for graphic design down?
I'm a graphic designer with 4-5 years experience in Missouri. Does anyone know if the job market here is in a lull? I've been looking for about 3 months and have found nothing but freelance work. Tajiboy2004: I'm in St. Louis, MO

The market is down and there is a reason for it.... Because photoshop, illustrator, etc. are all programs that can be learned by just about anyone, there are lots of people out there calling themselves "designers" Ninety percent of the world doesn't really know what truely good design looks like. These two facts together make it easy for Joe Schmo to start their own design website, shop, etc and it waters down the market. If you are really good at what you do then things will come to you in time. If you have the resources a better bet may be to build a portfolio, start a website that actually has good design, and then talk to the bank about getting a small business loan for adverts...postcards and pavement pounding seem to work really well, but the main key is to get your name out there. Many schools, churches, and other non-profits are good places to start, but make sure you hit up local business as word of mouth spreads quick. What part of MO are you in...I might be able to help find you something in the mean time.
