Will a web design certificate be good enough to get a good job in web design

Will a web design certificate be good enough to get a good job in web design?
At my local communitty college they offer a certificate in web programming and design. I have fundamental computer skills, and was wondering if this certificate will be good enough to land a good job in web design, or at least give me the knowlege to freelance? Here is a link to the certificate cirriculum. Thanks so much! http://www.vhcc.edu/index.aspx?page=264

Yes, it will. In fact, the more certifications you get, the more you get paid and the more likely you are to get a job. Go to this site, and get the one-year subscription, and take a bunch of tests including HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Webmaster, MS Office... etc... they are fairly easy and quick. It's fairly cheap too. http://www.ncsacademy.com/default.cfm?ref=3043

Yes you should. However, note that you will get more competition from people who have university degrees. Also, you might want to try and create a few portfolio projects. For instance, create and design a website on geocities or any other free web hosting service. This way, you can show your employer the quality of work you do. Good luck.

A certificate at most schools is definitely enough to get you in the door. I would recommend you take some graphic design courses to complement your certificate as well. There is a lot of images in to days web pages. I started a company called Sandy River Web Design, and we do well. I am still in school, and I think we produce some quality products. Check out my site Sandy RIver Web Design
